December 25, 2015 – Zwierzyniec

At Christmas time we wish you peace and joy.

December 23, 2015 – near Gruszki

Although it does not seem like that, today is the first day of winter. Animals seem to have understood that lack of snow makes it hard to trace them, and they themselves decided to show up.

Snow! Although scarce, it brought a major change into forest landscape. In the photo Dubitka today late in the afternoon.

Elk mating time is in full swing – a great opportunity to watch these animals. We set off for the eastern regions of Siemianówka Lake. In our opinion it is the best place to meet an elk in the vicinity of the Białowieża Forest. Below you can see a picture from our trip.

September 18, 2015 – Kosy Most

In the evening we went to the Forest to Kosy Most. The sun was setting down, and we could hear deer roaring in the woods. Fog rose over the meadow in Narewka River’s valley, and then a herd of bisons appeared.

August 27, 2015 – Stare Berezowo

This time, instead of setting off for the Forest, we suggest visiting the fields. Many interesting things are happening there – red-footed falcons are migrating, we saw a greater spotted eagle, numerous partridges are roaming stubble fields

August 18, 2015 – Narewka

On boiling hot days we often went to Narewka River to find some relief from the heat. We had a swim and watched underwater life, which was even easier than usually due to low water level. Fish were so close, right at our fingertips. Once again the Forest amazed us with its biodiversity.

August 9, 2015 – Hajnówka

Longlasting draught, mild winter and boiling summer made it possible to observe some mantises in the vicinity of the Białowieża Forest. This thermophilic species is very rare in Poland and occurs mainly in the south of the country. Hidden mantis resembles a plant’s part, which makes it very difficult to spot one. Those who feel like exploring should set off for sun-basked meadows. Be careful, these might also be patches of herbs, weeds or shrubs right next to the house or at the back of the garden. The specimen in the photo was captured in Hajnówka itself.

February 22, 2015 – fields near Hajnówka

Yesterday’s skylark encouraged us to search for more tokens of spring in the fields near Hajnówka. Yes, we do confirm that spring makes itself more and more vivid – cranes, geese and, of course, skylarks are on their way. We met a pair of whooper swans resting in the field. We also observed our winter guests – rough-legged buzzadrs.

Today the sun started shining so brightly that photos of the Forest seem to be taken in Spring – as long as you managed to find a frame without any snow. In general, the Forest is getting more and more lively each day – tits sing louder and louder, woodpeckers keep drumming, snow is gradually thawing.

February 1, 2015

In the valley of Narewka River,  right next to Gruszki village, bisons came out to graze. Rimmed by the evening sun, they posed for some nice photos.

The place itself is frequently visited by bisons due to the vast meadows and some haystacks left there for winter.
